Firebird is an abstract oil painting by Bruce Thomson, angular futurist forms in hot reds, oranges and yellows set against deep blue.

A great white arc sweeps across the composition, and from the clash of shards on the right a bird takes shape, an eye and a jagged wing caught mid-flight.

It is among the boldest of his paintings and drawings, close in spirit to Volley.
